His practice focuses on international commercial and investment disputes (notably international arbitration and litigation), banking and financial law, insurance and reinsurance, corporate law, conflicts of laws and jurisdictions, public law and government contracts, foreign investment and infrastructure projects and has extensive experience negotiating complex cross-border contracts in these fields. His practice includes matters of public international law European and Middle Eastern laws and has acted before the ECtHR in arbitration and Tax related matters.
He has advised and assisted the Lebanese Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank of Lebanon and the Association of Banks of Lebanon, as well as the Lebanese Ministry of Administrative reform and the Investment Authority of Kurdistan in the drafting and assessment of several financial, economic and investment laws and regulations. He is currently appointed by the Prime Minister of Lebanon to the committee responsible for drafting the Financial Stability Law.
Marwan started practicing with one of the most prominent litigation firms in Beirut. Between 1994 and 2000, he was a senior associate of a Law Firm associated with Gide Loyrette Nouel in Beirut and Riyadh, before becoming a partner of Hennaoui & Sakr and then participating in the founding of SAAS Lawyers. He also practices as an international arbitrator from a Barristers Chambers in London.
Marwan is the author of a monograph on “Non-signatories, Third Parties and the International Arbitration Agreement”, co-directed and contributed to a reference book on banking law and co- authored a book on the law of associations in Lebanon of several book chapters, articles, reports, studies, chronicles and case notes and speaks regularly on these subjects. In addition, Marwan lectures on Project Finance law, corporate finance law, international contract and commercial laws and international economic law in various Master programs at Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut, Lebanon), the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Beirut Bar Institute. He is an approved Faculty Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (International Arbitration) and currently sits on its Education and Training Committee in London. Marwan also taught two courses on Multiparty Arbitrations and Conservatory Measures in the Dispute Resolution Module of the Swiss International Law School/Bond University’s LLM in International Commercial Law and Dispute Resolution in Basel, Switzerland. In 2019-2020, Marwan taught the module 1 of the Diploma in International Arbitration jointly delivered for the first time in the Arabic language in Riyadh and Jeddah, by the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA) and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb, UK) leading for the Fellowship of the CIArb. He also teaches in the ICC PIDA training Arabic programme.

His practice focuses on international commercial and investment disputes (notably international arbitration and litigation), banking and financial law, insurance and reinsurance, corporate law, conflicts of laws and jurisdictions, public law and government contracts, foreign investment and infrastructure projects and has extensive experience negotiating complex cross-border contracts in these fields. His practice includes matters of public international law European and Middle Eastern laws and has acted before the ECtHR in arbitration and Tax related matters.
He has advised and assisted the Lebanese Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank of Lebanon and the Association of Banks of Lebanon, as well as the Lebanese Ministry of Administrative reform and the Investment Authority of Kurdistan in the drafting and assessment of several financial, economic and investment laws and regulations. He is currently appointed by the Prime Minister of Lebanon to the committee responsible for drafting the Financial Stability Law.
Marwan started practicing with one of the most prominent litigation firms in Beirut. Between 1994 and 2000, he was a senior associate of a Law Firm associated with Gide Loyrette Nouel in Beirut and Riyadh, before becoming a partner of Hennaoui & Sakr and then participating in the founding of SAAS Lawyers. He also practices as an international arbitrator from a Barristers Chambers in London.
Marwan is the author of a monograph on “Non-signatories, Third Parties and the International Arbitration Agreement”, co-directed and contributed to a reference book on banking law and co- authored a book on the law of associations in Lebanon of several book chapters, articles, reports, studies, chronicles and case notes and speaks regularly on these subjects. In addition, Marwan lectures on Project Finance law, corporate finance law, international contract and commercial laws and international economic law in various Master programs at Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut, Lebanon), the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Beirut Bar Institute. He is an approved Faculty Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (International Arbitration) and currently sits on its Education and Training Committee in London. Marwan also taught two courses on Multiparty Arbitrations and Conservatory Measures in the Dispute Resolution Module of the Swiss International Law School/Bond University’s LLM in International Commercial Law and Dispute Resolution in Basel, Switzerland. In 2019-2020, Marwan taught the module 1 of the Diploma in International Arbitration jointly delivered for the first time in the Arabic language in Riyadh and Jeddah, by the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA) and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb, UK) leading for the Fellowship of the CIArb. He also teaches in the ICC PIDA training Arabic programme.
