Experience:
- Advised the shareholders of a Lebanese start-up in a landmark acquisition by a major Japanese technology company, the first transaction of its kind in the MENA region.
- Advised a major French telecom operator in connection with the privatisation of the public telephone network in Lebanon.
- Structured and advising on the restructuring of a telecommunications group with affiliates across several Arab and European countries, including transfers of licences and other regulatory matters.
- Supported the establishment of a satellite telecommunications engineering company in Lebanon and Switzerland and acting as external legal adviser to the group.
- Advised a major insurance company on a joint venture with a mobile operator for a micro-insurance scheme delivered via text message, including negotiation with the operator and regulator.
- Represented a Lebanese mobile operator before the Council of State (Supreme Administrative Court) in a dispute with the Ministry of Telecommunications regarding government-owned interconnection lines.
- Acted for a Lebanese mobile operator in a series of ICC arbitration proceedings, including disputes over prepaid line contracts, an alleged breach of a Data Clearing Contract in Geneva, and a cross-border dispute with an African mobile operator involving liability for fraud and hacking of international lines.
